Mitch's Designs
Folk Artist Mitch Huett is primarily influenced by all things nostalgic.  Raised for some time in the
Missouri Ozarks, he was surrounded by a family with a "do it yourself" attitude, instilling in him a
deep respect and admiration for those "home made"  objects of the past, wrought through
untrained eyes and thoughtful hands.  Reveling in the concept of making something from nothing,
he often uses old fabric remnants and discarded objects as his materials.

To Mitch, a slight smile of remembrance is the most satisfying reaction to his whimsical and
warm-hearted work. (double click on photos for a larger view)
The Misunderstoods
Mitch's soft sculptures (aptly called "the misunderstoods") have a certain mischievous
sensibility about them.  Constructed primarily of vintage wool blankets, with the
occasional flourish of buttons, millinery flowers, and scraps of quilting, each has it's own
distinct personality, be it pensive, confused, or quietly amused!.

Paintings
These paintings are executed on found and re-imagined surfaces - specifically cake tins, Cigar boxes and wooden bowls.
Painted in what Mitch refers to as his "impressionistic folk art pop art" style, these wonderful paintings exude color and
warmth.
